FTW Slam KC is held every fourth Thursday at  The Writers Place KC.  Doors open at 7pm. Slam starts at 7:30pm.  $10 admission. Top three performers of the evening take a cash prize!  This is not your conventional poetry slam! Poetry lovers of all types are free to get on the mic and read or recite memorized pieces. Come out and enjoy some word!

For The Win Slam is the only one of its kind in the region that offers consistent cash prizes of $200 and up.  Since our creation in 2014, we have produced 23 slams, awarded artists and audience members with over $4000 in cash and prizes, produced 3 showcases, and sent an individual competitor to represent Kansas City in the Woman of the World Poetry Slam.  We have also sent two teams to represent Kansas City at the Poetry Slam Inc. National Poetry Slam and are gearing up to send a third team this year making us the first and only team to represent Kansas City in a competition of that caliber.  

 

With our community partnerships, we have also mentored over 300 students in the Kansas City Metro area and cultivated an award winning youth slam team.  Our mission is to continue to provide representation for Kansas City nationally and cultivate more nationally recognized talent within the city. 

 

This year we are AGAIN sending a team to represent Kansas City and the Poetry Slam Inc. National Poetry Slam!
