January 6th - Dialogue in Color - Join me as I perform with other prestigious poets for this phenomenal project. Artist Glyniesha Johnson is a Visual artist with works installed at The Writer's Place. Poets have been commissioned to write pieces in response to her works. In turn - she has created a work in response to our writings. - OFFICIAL EVENT DESCRIPTION - Through the language of collage and drawing, Glyneisha Johnson recreates familiar domestic Black spaces of color. She explores the notion of collage as a metaphor to describe the dislocated, collaged nature of Black history due to colonialism. TWP invited seven local poets to write poems in response to her work. These poems will be displayed next to each collage. During the reception poets Glen North, Sherri Purpose Hall, Jermaine Thompson, Anne Gatschet, Chell Navarro, Jessica Ayala, and Jose Faus will read their poems.
